Throughout the year, a large number of events are held in the VEX calendar year (from April to April). These events allow teams to compete in different competitions throughout the year including VEX IQ, VEX EDR and KiwiChallenge.
Events hosted within New Zealand can be seen in the calendar below and anybody is welcome to come along to any of these events. If you are unsure what to bring or how to compete in the competition, have a look at How to Compete. Clicking on any event in the calendar will bring up more details about the event and it's location.
VEX EDR: Starstruck (Yr 9-13)
VEX Robotics Competition Starstruck is played on a 12’x12’ square field. Two alliances, one “red” and one “blue,” composed of two teams each, compete in matches consisting of a fifteen second autonomous period followed by one minute and forty-five seconds of driver-controlled play. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by scoring your Stars and Cubes in your Zones and by Hanging Robots on your Hanging Bar.
VEX IQ: Crossover (Yr 1-8)
VEX IQ Challenge Crossover is played on a 4’x8’ rectangular field. Two robots compete in the Teamwork Challenge as an alliance in 60-second long teamwork matches, working collaboratively to score points. Teams also compete in two additional challenges; The Robot Skills Challenge, where one robot takes the field to score as many points as possible under driver control; and the Programming Skills Challenge, where one robot scores as many points as possible autonomously, without any driver inputs. The object of the game is to attain the highest score by Scoring Hexballs in their colored Scoring Zone and Goals, and by Parking and Balancing Robots on the Bridge.
